Connection:

Check that you have chosen your software and hardware architecture before connecting your UPS.

Before installing Solution-Pac / WAN you must connect the MGE UPS by following the steps given below:

• Switch off the computers to be protected by the MGE UPS.
  
  
• Plug in the UPS to a mains outlet.
  
  
• Plug in each computer's mains plug to one of the MGE UPS power outlets.
  
  
• UPS / agent / network connection:
  - If you use the software agent ( UM-Agent ), connect the computer serial port to the UPS U-Talk connector with the cable supplied in the UPS packaging. Record the computer serial port name.
  - If you use an internal embedded agent , insert if necessary the optional board in the UPS and connect the UPS to the computer network.
  - If you use an external embedded agent , connect it to the UPS with a communication cable, to the SNMP Ethernet network and to a secured electrical power supply source.
  
  
• Switch on the MGE UPS, then the computers.
  
  
• Implementing the protection:
  - If you use the software agent( UM-Agent ),you must install UM-Agent, UM-Client and UM-Console+ on THE computer connected directly to the MGE UPS SYSTEMS UPS with the U-Talk cable.
  - If you use an internal embedded agent , you must configure it (refer to the product instruction manual).
  - If you use an external embedded agent you must configure it (refer to the product instruction manual).
  
  
• You must install UM-Client (and possibly UM-Console +) on each computer powered by the UPS.
